Open Air Museum in Sirogojno Candidate for European Museum of the Year

BELGRADE – The Staro Selo (Old Village) open-air museum in Sirogojno, western Serbia, has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year award in 2014, awarded by the European Museum Forum.

 

In May 2014, the museum will have an opportunity in Taalinn, Estonia, to fight for one of the three prizes – European Museum of the Year, the Kenneth Hudson or Stiletto, or for a special commendation by the jury in competition with about 20 nominated museums from 47 European countries, members of the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Culture and Information has announced on its website. The award has been given out by the European Museum Forum since 1977.

The award is granted to small and large museums which developed new approaches to museology for attracting the public to museums by unique ambiance, imaginativeness of presentation, creative approach to education and social responsibility.
